Cider Revolution

We all are aware of the massive presence and popularity of the craft beer movement. In my town of Torrance, CA I can bike from one amazing craft brewery to the next and taste some truly lovely beers.

Delicious Crisp Fall Cider Varieties

But have you heard of the Cider Revolution sweeping the world? What better time to explore this new trend than right now as we are ready to give Thanks! A sophisticated cider would be lovely with Thanksgiving dinner and they are delicious and gluten free after all!

Here are 3 Ways to Join The Cider Revolution This Fall!

1. Take a day trip to one of the many festivals going on from Central to Southern Cali- Click here to visit the interactive map of cider festivals.

2. Take your pick of the bunch by shopping of some amazing ciders online. I recently purchased a cider from K & L Wine Merchants and I was pleasantly surprised by the Sidra Acetal “El Carrasco” Sidra de Asturias Cider from Spain, it was complex yet crisp and bright and a little sour. Very different from the typical ciders in the grocery stores. When you go to the site just search for “ciders” and take your pick. There is a whole new world to explore there.

3. Meander to a local South Bay Cider Bar for a Tasting – Try the following:

Honest Abe Cider

101 Cider

Great Society of Cider

And, if you want some apple fun sans alcohol this fall check out my blog post here from last Fall. If you do opt for the cider please drink responsibly. 😉

Tendergreens Green Hummus Recipe

,

Oh my, how I love Tendergreens Restaurant. And, their green hummus Recipe. I’m thankful for their quick and healthy farm to table food options.  I used to frequent their 1st Culver City location. Actually, we renovated the building a decade ago to create the vanilla shell before the design phase and restaurant move in. Back then, I do not recall that green hummus was on the menu. However, last summer they opened one of their new locations in my home town. Yay! Now I cannot get enough of that Green Hummus. So nom, nom. Thankfully they are kind enough to share the recipe (AND lots of their recipes) on their site. Seriously you must get down to Tendergreens for their healthy grub and definitely make this Hummus–it might just replace your other favorite hummus recipes.

Maca, Maca, Maca!!

Maca, Maca, Maca!
I feel lucky to live near a great restaurant called The Source, because it can be hard to find a healthy eating establishment that has organic food, fresh and ready to go when you are on the move. It’s in Hermosa Beach, CA on the North side of Pier Avenue between PCH and Hermosa Ave. I love lots of items on the menu but the beet and farro salads are my regular dishes. So yummy! They also have a variety of delicious dips and shakes. One of the shakes is called Bonanza and this was the topic of conversation when my friend Erin told me about The Source. It’s a revitalizing shake made with coconut milk, almond butter, banana, dates, chia seeds, maca and sea salt.

A shake that packs an energy punch.
